Welcome to the RNE ART Studios: Creator Insider Blog – Meet the Creative Behind the Magic
Welcome to the very first post of RNE ART Studios: Creator Insider Blog! I’m Renee Anderson, the creative force behind RNE ART Studios, and I’m thrilled to give you an inside look of my artistic journey. Whether you’re into anime, astrology, graffiti, sci-fi storytelling, or even bladesmithing, this blog is a place where all forms of creativity are celebrated and explored. Here, I’ll share behind-the-scenes stories, showcase new projects, and offer insights into my creative process, entrepreneurship, and everything in between.
My goal with this blog is to build a community of creatives who are as passionate as I am about art, culture, innovation and building a safe space for a community that represents a wide range of personalities, interests, and cultures. Whether you're an artist, writer, gamer, or simply a lover of unique perspectives, I hope you’ll find something here that resonates with you.
A Creative Journey Fueled by Diverse Passions
Growing up in Baltimore, I’ve always been deeply inspired by the rich culture, history, and creative energy of my city. That inspiration, paired with my eclectic interests in astrology, sci-fi stories, anime, witchcraft, and cryptids, has shaped who I am as an artist. My creative portfolio is a reflection of the many things that captivate my imagination—whether it’s the storytelling in afro-fantasy (the fact we have to differentiate is wild) and BIPOC queer romances, the intricate designs of graffiti art, or the hands-on craft of woodworking and pottery wheel throwing. Needless to say I have a wide range of interests and I’m not afraid of exploring those aspects of myself. I invite who ever is reading to join me and the rest of the community to share along with us on Instagram by using the #RNEARTINSIDERS hashtag so we can cheer each other on.
Art, Heritage, and Innovation
At RNE ART Studios, my work spans a wide range of mediums and styles, pulling from my cultural heritage as an African American and whatever I’m into at the time. I create illustrative portraits to murals , integrating influences from African American, Native American, Asian, and Pacific Islander cultures and my experiences with interacting with those cultures. My love for character design and comics plays a huge role in my illustrative practice and my storytelling as a whole. I mix those influences with my fascination with cryptids and obscure American history, which all come together in my creative writing. I’m currently working on a few smaller stories of one big project that I’m calling MetroJump. It’s currently an anthology series that follows characters in the “Metroverse” and their adventures that ultimately lead up to one converging climax of the series. It’s one of the projects I’m most excited to share with everyone soon (I hope).
One project that highlights my playful side is the zine I created called Introducing Alpha Pigeon. Inspired by a real-life encounter with an unusually large pigeon, this story reflects my love for quirky, unexpected moments in everyday life and how adopting those moments into your creativity can bring something unique to life. It’s these moments of creativity and curiosity that keep me engaged and always searching for the next project.
I also design bold, illustrative text graphics and graffiti that provoke thought and start conversations. One such graphic challenges the popular Baltimore transplant sticker, “Baltimore, I like it actually,” with my own design: “Your ‘Baltimore, I like it actually’ sticker is racist, actually.” soon to be available in the RNE ART Studios online store. This design is more than just a visual—it’s a conversation starter about race, gentrification, and perceptions of predominantly Black and brown cities like Baltimore.
Entrepreneurial Spirit: Creativity Meets Business
In addition to my artistic projects, I’m also the Owner, CEO, and Creative Director of RNE ART Studios. Being an entrepreneur is about more than just creating; it’s about building something sustainable. My services at RNE ART Studios include creative consulting, social media marketing, creative direction, hosting workshops and designing stylized illustration. Each service is infused with the same creativity that fuels my personal projects, making sure that every client experience is as unique and innovative as the art I create.
I’m currently working on some exciting new projects, including the development of a studio space for hosting my workshops, shows, markets, etc. in Baltimore City, MD. This space will allow the RNE ART Studios brand to engage with our community more by hosting community events and local artist collaborations. My goal is to create an environment where artists can thrive, experiment with new techniques, and build lasting creative connections.
What’s Next for RNE ART Studios?
The future is filled with exciting projects at RNE ART Studios, and I can’t wait to share them with you. Here’s a sneak peek at what I’m working on:
Developing an original strategy board game called Ah'Khadeeri, inspired by a dream I had in the summer of 2024. The game combines elements of strategy similar to chess and go but with its own unique world and rules.
Building the Metroverse Scribe Blog and Podcast, an anthology of my short stories. This is where I’ll share my love for sci-fi, BIPOC queer romances, and the colorful characters that live in my thoughts and dreams.
Expanding my creative portfolio using prompts, mock clients, and an experimental approach to keep my ideas fresh and my projects diverse.
My creative journey is ever-evolving, and I love exploring new mediums like bladesmithing, game development, and witchcraft-inspired design. Through this blog, I hope to not only share my personal work but also engage with other creatives who are passionate about pushing artistic boundaries.
