THIS IS ME.
I’m a multidisciplinary artist based in Baltimore, MD.
With my passion for life-long learning and facilitating quality experiences I’ve accrued many skills and titles over my career as an Artist.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have grown up in a supportive community of artists at a young age that propelled me into the creative field. Those connections allowed me to take courses at surrounding universities and institutions where I was exposed to so many creative outlets and opportunities. Such as, drawing, painting, ceramic mosaic and photography classes at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), ceramic pottery at Towson University.
I started as an assistant teacher at the 901 Arts Community Arts Center in Baltimore. Working there gave me the confidence to apply for an AmeriCorps program out of MICA called the Community Artist Collaborative (CAC). This allowed me to be a full time Teaching Artist and Youth Program Manager, where I developed my skills as an Artist and facilitator. During my residency I had formed a group with other community members who wanted to organize safe community events during the pandemic. We called ourselves the Young Adult Community Organizers (YACOs). We had developed a series of outdoor movie nights and other events for the community with myself as the facilitator and art director. Even when the group had disbanded, I facilitated and managed the events for the community for the remaining portion of my residency. Developing the events helped me improve my grant writing and communication skills. That point in my life was a time of significant practice in networking, education, and expanding the breadth of what I am capable of; personally and professionally.
Now, having outgrown the residency position with CAC and AmeriCorps, I have built my own professional practice surrounding the skills and experiences I’ve been able to collect. My multidisciplinary approach allows me to seamlessly blend various artistic mediums, including painting, photography, ceramics, and community engagement projects, into cohesive and impactful creations. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant cultural tapestry of Baltimore, I strive to infuse my work with themes of social justice, identity, community empowerment, and my own personal experiences. Whether through leading workshops, organizing community events, or creating immersive installations, I am dedicated to fostering meaningful connections and sparking dialogue through art. As I continue to evolve as an artist, I remain committed to lifelong learning and collaboration, continually seeking new opportunities to expand my creative horizons and make a positive impact on the world around me.
