Goal for Progeny…

My goal is to reach those of the Global Majority, Black, Indigenous, and other marginalized communities who identify with the subjects in my paintings. The majority of my subjects are queer BIPOC individuals; however, I don’t believe only queer BIPOC people can relate or resonate with my work. I hope to introduce visual concepts that challenge the social indoctrinations of classism, racism, queerphobia, and the malicious intent behind forces to keep those ideologies as the status quo. Although my goal is to reach a specific group of people, I anticipate a wide range of individuals with different identities and backgrounds, in and outside of that group, to be able to interact with my work and take something from it.

This project will give me the opportunity to further develop my online business, which would aid in my professional growth. A pivotal point in my practice for this project will be the use of new materials and new skills to boost the quality of my products. I am establishing a membership at the Openworks Makerspace in Baltimore to give myself a workspace to focus and develop the Out of Grace Apparel brand. The membership will allow me to have a workspace and an address for my business. The majority of my sales are made through e-commerce, however, I feel disconnected from my audience. I believe the details of this project will allow me to bridge that gap.
